Dear Member,

Hope the new decade has kicked off well for you all, new year’s and new decades often gives rise to thoughts and new beginning. We thank you for your support during 2019 and look forward to working with you again for the coming year. The purpose of this newsletter is to provide you with information of our upcoming events being hosted by the Association for 2020.  Please add all dates of events into your diary (Dates already in the 2020 calendar). Your attendance is greatly appreciated and beneficial for continued success of the Association.

 Annual General Meeting for 2020

The London Wexford Association held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday the 12th of January at The Mazenod Social club, Kilburn, London. The meeting was conducted under the Terms of the London Wexford Association constitution. A great turnout on the evening. A big thanks was conveyed to all outgoing officers who helped the association throughout the year.

London St Patricks Day Parade

To start off our events this year, the Mayor of London’s 2020 St Patricks Day parade will be on Sunday the 15th of March where the parade will showcase lots of music dance and culture along with vintage machinery. The highlight for the London Wexford Association is the special themed float that is based on the National Heritage Park in Wexford with the lorry kindly sponsored by J Ffrench Ltd. This is led by Heritage Park CEO & Cllr Maura Bell where she has successfully managed to secure funding from the Heritage Park Fund. Wexford Co Council and visit Wexford.com and strongly supported by former Cllr Robert Ireton.  It’s very important to continue to create links with Wexford and strong relationship with Wexford Co Council. The association would like to invite all our members, supporters, Fr Murphy’s Hurling, Football and Camogie Clubs and friends to come and join us in the parade to march proudly behind our Wexford Purple & Gold banner. We will leave at 12 noon from Green Park and walk through to Trafalgar Square.

Annual Dinner Dance

The London Wexford Association will host their 66th annual dinner dance at The Clayton Crown Hotel in Cricklewood, NW2 3ED on Saturday the 25th of April 2020 commencing at 7.30pm with music by the fantastic Barry Owen Band. This event is promised as always to be a great occasion. Guests from Wexford Co Council will be in attendance.

We will again be producing a menu booklet and would like to invite any sponsors that would be interested to take out an advertisement. The cost for a full page is £100 and the cost for half a page is £60. Quiz Night

The association launched a Quiz night last year which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. This year we will host our 2nd Quiz night on Friday 12th of June at The Mazenod Social Club, Quex Road, Kilburn. £10 entry per person with a team of 4/6 with a buffet provided. Who has the brains- we will find out in June as we look forward to welcoming all the teams on the night.

Mass for Deceased

Mass for the deceased members of the London Wexford Association and the

Fr Murphy GAA Club London will be on Saturday the 27th of June at St Agnes Church, 35 Cricklewood Lane, NW2 1HR commencing at 6.30pm. We would to extend our deepest sympathy to any members or friends who suffered bereavement during the year

Annual Wexford Towns Reunion Buffet Dance

The London Wexford Association will hold their annual Wexford Towns Reunion Buffet Dance on Saturday the 24th of October 2020 at 8.30pm at The Mazenod Social Club, Quex Road, Kilburn, NW6 4LS. Tickets costing £15 will be available closer to the event. Promised to be a night with live music and lots of craic and banter.

 Annual Pensioners Christmas Party

The London Wexford Association will host their 9th Annual Pensioners Christmas Party at The Claddagh Ring in Hendon, London on Sunday 6th of December 2020 with sit down at 2pm. Live musical entertainment on the day.

Sympathies

The Association would like to extend our deepest sympathy to members and family who have passed away throughout the year and keep their families in our prayers. The late Martin Flynn, Cathy Palmer Annie Uorska, Glen Shorey, Tom Ryan, Anastasia Butler, Ciaran Redmond Cave, Theresa Cullen, Celia Nolan, Pat Walsh Bernadette Cusker, Eileen Furlong, PJ Fanning, Joe Fryday, Nancy Morrissey, Larry Gahan, Bridget Moran and Kathleen Anderson, David Whelan or anyone who has suffered a recent bereavement. May their gentle souls Rest in Peace. We pray for all the sick especially our President Michael Sills, Kathleen Fitzgerald, Jim Dunne, Stephen Palmer or anyone who is going through a tough time at the moment we wish them a speedy recovery.
